L-Arginine vs L-Citrulline: Key Differences on the Label
Two amino acids with similar names and different labels. Here is how L-arginine and L-citrulline compare.

L-arginine and L-citrulline are amino acids that often turn up in the same conversations. They are closely related but they are not the same thing, and their labels read differently. Here is a side-by-side look at ours.
How they are related
L-citrulline is an amino acid the body can convert into L-arginine. L-arginine is itself an amino acid found in protein foods such as meat, fish, dairy, nuts and legumes. Citrulline gets its name from watermelon (Citrullus lanatus), where it was first identified.
Side by side
| L-Arginine | L-Citrulline | |
|---|---|---|
| Amount per serve | 1000mg L-arginine | 2,500mg L-citrulline |
| Supplied as | 1,250mg L-arginine HCl | L-citrulline |
| Serving size | 1 tablet | 2 tablets |
| Servings per bottle | 60 | 60 |
Why 1,250mg gives 1000mg
Our L-arginine is supplied as L-arginine hydrochloride (HCl). The hydrochloride part adds weight, so 1,250mg of L-arginine HCl provides 1000mg of L-arginine itself. The label shows both so you can see exactly what you are getting.
Why citrulline is two tablets
2,500mg is a large amount to fit into one tablet, so the serve is split across two tablets. The bottle holds 120 tablets, which gives 60 serves.
Before you start
If you take blood pressure medication, nitrates or medicines for erectile dysfunction, or have a medical condition, check with your doctor before taking arginine or citrulline products.
