Why Is Black Pepper Extract in My Supplement?
Black pepper extract shows up in several of our formulas. Here is what piperine is and why it is on the label.

If you read the labels on our plus range, you will spot black pepper extract in several of them. It can look out of place in a supplement, so here is why it is there.
What is piperine?
Piperine is the compound that gives black pepper (Piper nigrum) its bite. Black pepper extracts are often standardised to a set percentage of piperine. For example, our Alpha+ lists black pepper fruit extract standardised to 95% piperine.
Why it is added to formulas
Black pepper extract is a common addition to multi-ingredient formulas and is often listed alongside botanicals such as turmeric. On a label it is usually shown with its piperine percentage, so you can see exactly how much of the extract is piperine.
Which Elevate Nutra products contain it?
A note on medication
Piperine may interact with some prescription medicines. If you take regular medication, show the label to your pharmacist or doctor before starting a product that contains black pepper extract.
