Shilajit, Tongkat Ali, Sea Moss and PQQ: Inside Prime+

Prime+ combines some of the most searched ingredients of recent years. Here is what each one actually is.

Elevate Nutra Prime+ Performance & Vitality Formula bottle

Prime+ brings together ingredients that have become popular searches in their own right, including shilajit, tongkat ali and sea moss. Here is a plain-English guide to each name on the label.

The ingredients

  • Shilajit — a sticky, tar-like resin that seeps from rocks in mountain ranges such as the Himalayas, formed over long periods from decomposed plant material.
  • Tongkat ali — the root of Eurycoma longifolia, a shrub native to South-East Asia, also called longjack.
  • Sea moss — a red seaweed, usually Irish moss (Chondrus crispus) or related species.
  • Ashwagandha — Withania somnifera. See our ashwagandha guide.
  • Coenzyme Q10 (CoQ10) — a compound the body makes naturally, found in every cell.
  • PQQ — pyrroloquinoline quinone, a compound found in small amounts in foods such as kiwifruit and parsley.
  • Boron — a trace mineral found in fruit, vegetables and nuts.
  • Magnesium and zinc — essential minerals.
  • Black pepper extract — see our piperine guide.
